Not knowing what's below is not an excuse. READ CAREFULLY Important information to know about this XC season. -The season starts August 5th. -August 5th-8th we will practice from 8 AM-10 AM at the track -August 12th and on we will practice at 3:00 at FPHS. Please note, these days we often get black flagged due to temps. If so we will move practice to 7:30 PM. We will discuss attendance if/when that should happen - While we understand people take vacations, the start date has been posted here since April and on the school calendar far before that. Please be aware of the info below:
August 12th is the cutoff to join the team for all returners and anyone that is receiving this message. If you have not joined us by then, you will NOT be on the team. § This means that if yu are on vacation and gone the whole time from June the 5th-12th you will not be running XC for us this season. Parent emails and pleas will not make a difference. We will be treating this just like any other varsity sport. My final team list will be turned August 12th and only incoming Freshman, new enrollees and foreign exchange students will be added at that point. § Failure t have paperwork done; physical, concussion training, and emergency card (meaning you are not able to practice) is treated as not being here (absent) as you will not be allowed to practice. - Once we hit the cutoff (august 12th), you will get three unexcused absences. After that, there will not be a place on the team for you. Again, this is not negotiable. Set your work schedules now. Do not offer to “pick up a shift” during practice time as it will be unexcused. If you work somewhere where you get “called in” at the last minute, be prepared to explain that you have an obligation. Preparing ahead of time can ensure that this isn’t an issue. This will be a part of the rest of your life. Cross country is an obligation and takes dedication to be successful. Please be n the lookout for a team calendar with ALL important dates and information you will need for the whole season. Do not just glance at a message. If Coach Wells and I send one out, there is a reason. We are VERY excited about the new season!
