Forest Park High School Activities Department is proud to announce the hiring of David Cresswell as the Varsity Head Boys Soccer Coach.

Coach Cresswell started playing soccer at an early age recreationally and progressing up through the ranks of club soccer. After a productive and successful career in the youth programs he then played collegiately at The University of North Carolina at Wilmington for four years from 1985-1988 and was named to the CAA all-conference second team during his junior and senior seasons and to the All-South third team his junior season.

Coach Cresswell then turned towards the coaching ranks as both a high school and club soccer coach.  His high school coaching experience started for a year at the Junior Varsity level for boys at Annandale High School and then for four years at the Varsity level for boys.  The varsity boys teams there were two-time district champions and one-time regional runners-up in the early 1990’s.  From there, Coach Cresswell moved over to the girls’ side as he was hired as a teacher at Falls Church High School.  He coached the Girls’ Varsity program at Falls Church from 1994-2000.  His teams there won three district championships.  From Falls Church, Coach Cresswell opened the Varsity Girls’ Program at Forest Park High School from 2001-2012.  During his tenure at Forest Park, his teams were district champion five times, regional champions twice, and earned five state tournament berths.  Coach Cresswell was named the Washington Post All-Met Coach of the Year for his efforts as coach of Falls Church High School in 1998 and received a variety of coaching awards during his stint with the girls’ program at Forest Park High School.

Coach Cresswell also coached many club soccer teams in the twenty plus years as a travel soccer coach. He had his most successful years with a girls’ team in the Little River Travel club in the late 1990s, a girls’ team in the Prince William Soccer program in the middle 2000s, and has recently worked with both boys and girls travel programs at Stafford Soccer.

Coach Cresswell now begins his new chapter of his coaching career by taking over the Boys Varsity program at Forest Park High School in the spring of 2019 and looks forward to making a positive impact on the program. Coach Cresswell can be reached via e-mail at cresswds@pwcs.edu
