Dear Bruin Families,
The office of student activities is happy to announce that in the coming weeks Forest Park High School will begin construction on its current multi-sport bermuda grass field. Synthetic turf fields for both Battlefield High School and Forest Park High School were approved and awarded earlier this year by the division in effort to invest in our student-athletes and physical education classes. The new turf field will be used for sports – such as football, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and unified sports – along with the marching band and community activities.
Forest Park High School looks forward to working with facility services and Sprinturf during the process. Along with field renovations the school will have the eight lane track replaced and resurfaced as well as improvements to lighting.
The facility upgrade puts our student-athletes in a really good position to compete at a high level by providing a playing surface which can be utilized more consistently throughout the course of the year. It also enables Forest Park High School to host district, regional, and state VHSL events by limiting the possibility of cancelations due to inclement weather. Another positive is that the new field will generate interest from outside organizations allowing the school to be utilized in building rentals which help off-set funding needed to support for the athletic and activities programs.
Completion date of the field is set for late November, early December with the track resurfacing set for Spring 2021. We do not anticipate any disruption of Fall or Spring sports due to the renovations. The Virginia High School League (VHSL) modified the sports schedule this past month which will allow for project completion before those two seasons. This means the only impact would potentially be on Winter track. We project that the boys/girls winter track teams will be able to practice with limitations. Adjustments and locations will be worked out should a situation arise where our track in not accessible during the winter months.

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at Forest Park High School. We look forward to the future and seeing our students on and off the playing field.
Let’s Go Bruins!
